Whatever you do, don't bring an apple over to the American side of the airport - I thought I was going to get strip searched for bringing a snack!  This was by far the longest plane ride I've been on, but 2 good things came out of it.  Since then every flight I've taken has seemed like a short nap and after about hour 16 your body just gives out and goes into coma mode and you wake up in Australia!

Arrived at the airport in Sydney and went right to the fire relief concert.  It down poured.  Passports are apparently not waterproof.
I toured Orange to visit a friend and I swear this country has the world's largest quarters when I tried to use a pay phone.  We drove to see Katoomba, the blue mountains and the 3 sisters rock and the haze of eucalyptus made everything a bluish hue.

Flew to Cairns, a very hot tropical beach town, and into Port Douglas.  This is where you can get any kind of snorkel trip or scuba diving adventure that you can dream of into the great Barrier reef.
